Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach spoke with neighbors in the area. Chin Mai and his dog, Boomer, walk every morning.
His first thought and hope was that it’s just an accidental drowning due to the weather and the swollen creek.
“Been raining a lot and the water level very high,” Mai said.
Peachtree Creek is higher and murkier from all the recent rain.
“Usually so much shallower…really looks different today. So that, I don’t know how that factors in. It was a surprise for sure," Mai said.
Neighbor Steve Redd said the morning’s events were far from ordinary.
“I’m so surprised, not a normal occurrence for sure,” Redd told Channel 2 Action News.
Police have not identified the body.
